Property Management Aid at the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission
 
What he did:  visited property to see what was wrong with it, maintained file system, and evaluated property management software
 
What he gained:  He gained working experience and learned how to communicate with the public and his co-workers
 
Problems:  Some times communication was hard and some of the people that he delt with were rude to hom

Sarita Tianna Maraj

Tutoring Children Through the Greenbelt CARES Program
 
What she did:  She tutored a girl named Emily in math and science
 
What she gained:  She felt very good about her experience due to the fact that she was doing something worth while with her time and doing something good for a child
 
Problems:  The biggest problem that she faced was that many times her mom had to cancel the session and she would not find out until about an hour into the session that she was not coming

Experiences in Pediatric ER of University of Maryland Medical Center
 
What she did:  She shadowed residents and was able to get supplies for the physicians and in some cases she was asked to help keep the little children company
 
What she gained:  Through this she realized that she did want to become a pediatrician.  She also learned important terms and was able to see what life is like as a resident while also gaining perspective from the attending physicians.
 
Problems:  One of the largest problems was transportation because she had to ride a bus everday to work.  Also there was not much that goes on during the day since most accidents involving children happen after school hours which was when she was leaving.  There were also some restrictions placed on her because she was only a volunteer.
